Homebound Ministry

Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist visit members of our community who are homebound, hospitalized, or in an extended care facility due to illness or age. Training is required for Eucharistic Ministry and Ministry of Care to the Sick.

Volunteers

General Requirements for Volunteer: Must give evidence to a life of service in following Christ be catechized and willing to adhere to the following requirements set forth by the Diocese and that of St. Mary Catholic Church.

  • Must be a Catholic in good standing
  • Must be a registered member of the parish
  • Must complete Safe Environment Training as outlined by Diocesan Policy
  • Must be available during daytime hours in order to actively participate in the ministry
  • Must have reliable transportation and auto insurance as required by the diocese
  • Must be willing to attend training meetings at the parish
  • Must be initially trained and in / or updated in current trends in the church regarding ministry of care
  • Must be trained in the basic Extraordinary Minister procedures as well as the procedures for Extraordinary Minister who work in the area of Pastoral Care of the Sick and Dying as required by the parish and the Office of Liturgy and Worship
  • Must be willing to participate in ongoing formation Must be at least 18 years of age
