Liturgy - Music Ministry
Spiritually Based
First and foremost we are Disciples of Christ. This should penetrate all that we do and are as ministers of music. Assembly Focused: Our function is not to perform for the assembly, but to lead them in sung prayer. As the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy from Vatican II states, "The Church earnestly desires that all the faithful be led to that full, conscious, and active participation in liturgical celebrations called for by the very nature of the liturgy."
Quality Conscious: The U.S. Bishops wrote in their document Music in Catholic Worship: "Faith grows when it is well-expressed in celebration. Good celebrations foster and nourish faith. Poor celebrations may weaken and destroy it."
The Music Ministry is a volunteer ministry providing music for all liturgical celebrations, that include: weekend Masses, Penance Services, Funerals*, Weddings*, and any other special feast days or events. Please refer to the Music Ministry Section under Ministers for more detailed information.
*For music at a wedding or funeral, please contact the Parish Office for guidelines and fees or refer to the sections entitled Funerals and Weddings.
We are currently in need of Instrumentalists, Cantors, and Singers.
Please contact the Parish Office if you are musically inclined and would like to join the Music Ministry.
