Music at Funerals

The procedure, with regard to the music for funerals at St. Mary’s, is as follows:

• The family involved contacts the church
• The staff informs them that music can be provided
• They are given the list of funeral/wedding music (see attached lists)
• They are given a sheet as to where songs are sung during the liturgy
• They are asked if they have any preference as to who provides the music
• They are informed of the $50 fee per musician/singer
  • Note – in some circumstances the fee is waived if is a hardship
• The office contacts the Music Ministry Coordinator and provides: contact numbers of the family involved, information as to liturgy/ceremony, date, musicians and music preference – if musicians and music preferences are not known, the Coordinator will follow-up with family
• Music Ministry Coordinator contacts requested musician, determines availability, and provides them with chosen songs, etc.
• If no preference is made, Coordinator will contact all Music Ministers via email to determine availability, if time permits, or will utilize a rotation schedule for the next Music Minister
